Yes, it seems like the story of the Little Engine That Could... Corey Avenue's new Sunday "European Style" Market has gotten off on a shaky start. Once approved by the City of St Pete Beach, the crew had less than 2 weeks to get the vendors organized, press releases and advertising sent out, signs and banners made for street parking and directions. But, the first event happended on Sunday, March 22, and a good time was had by all. Both Corey Avenue Merchants and Vendors of the Sunday Market had a wonderful and prosperous day....and local residents went home with their shopping bags full of produce, plants & unique treasures and gifts.
The second Sunday was not so great. Long awaited rain decided to bless the Beach that day along with high winds & showers throughout the morning....most vendors canceled at the last minute, but a few did show up in hopes the sun's rays would clear away the clouds and bless them with another fair day for market sales. But no such luck. Some hung around and had breakfast at local restaurants, several Corey merchants remained open for those that did come to St Pete Beach for the market and/or shopping. The Wine Shop had a nice wine tasting that afternoon. And the little Avenue just keeps chugging along.....
Third weekend was postponed for the 6th Annual Corey Craft Show, which has been a long-time scheduled event on Corey Avenue.... a perfect weekend for another great Craft Show at The Beach.
So, marking our Calendar for April 12, yes, Easter Sunday, the Corey Avenue Sunday Market will continue. One of the largest produce vendors will be the main attraction along with plants, flowers, orchids, food items, arts and crafts. Many of the Corey Avenue merchants and restaurants will be open during market hours making it a perfect market and shopping day at the Beach.
